The following educational sessions aim to provide opportunities for researchers to learn more about KT in a workshop setting.
Over the last year, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR) has collaborated with several partners to bring the highly regarded Scientist Knowledge Translation Training (SKTT™) Workshop to Western Canada. Most recently, MSFHR partnered with the University of Victoria to deliver the two-day workshop in April 2012. The group had representation from a wide range of disciplines (from health to economics), which provided trainers Dr. Melanie Barwick and Dr. Donna Lockett the opportunity to slightly modify their course content and engage in thought-provoking discussions with diverse workshop participants. We would like to thank UVic for co-sponsoring the workshop and look forward to partnering with them again soon.
MSFHR has previously partnered with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, Fraser Health's Department of Evaluation and Research Services, Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Health Sciences, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the University of British Columbia’s University-Industry Liaison Office on these very successful workshops.

Knowledge Translation 101
MSFHR recognizes the importance of linking researchers and research-users to develop, implement and evaluate KT plans. To support these collaborations, MSFHR partnered with VCHRI in late 2011 to bring together researchers and their partner end-users to learn and develop KT interventions and strategies during a two-day workshop. Through this workshop, participants learned the basics of putting knowledge into action; applying KT to a locally targeted project that will enhance quality of care; and building overall capacity in KT.
We are currently planning additional KT workshops throughout 2012. More information will be posted on our website as it becomes available or you can email Megan Schellenberg, mschellenberg@msfhr.org to be placed on our KT workshop mailing list.
