Aida Eslami

Asthma is a complex disease caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Although several studies have attempted to identify the specific genes associated with asthma, the underlying genetic mechanisms are still unclear. Parent-of-origin effects, such as genomic imprinting, may help us better understand the etiology of asthma.

Dr. Eslami’s research focuses on identifying candidate genomic regions for imprinting in asthma and related phenotypes (atopy and airway hyper-responsiveness). In addition, Dr. Eslami and her colleagues have identified new genes associated with peanut allergy using a Canadian cohort.
