The Networking Awards Program links researchers and human and material resources, building critical mass across health research applications, institutions, organizations and regions. The aim is to build capacity, facilitate and enhance BC's ability to address health issues, improve competitiveness for external funding by aligning health research in the province with national and international research and funding priorities, and facilitate the translation of health research knowledge into evidence-based decision-making and policy.

Phase I of the program, which began in January 2004, focuses on networks of researchers who share a common interest in the health of specific populations within the BC community.
Phase II of the program, which was launched in January 2006, focuses on the establishment of cross-cutting technology and methodology platforms that will enhance health research across BC.
After a review of the Networking Program in 2006, MSFHR developed program guidelines to address specific operational issues and to ensure that the goals of the Networking Program are met. These guidelines are subject to amendments from time to time. MSFHR expects awardees to adhere to these guidelines.
