The Technology/Methodology Platform Program focuses on the establishment of essential provincial, cross-cutting technology and methodology platforms that support a broad range of health research applications across institutions and research teams.
The Platforms aim to enhance health research across BC, and increase BC researchers’ national and international competitiveness. They will achieve this by strengthening collaborations and partnerships, sharing human and material resources, enhancing the training environment, and promoting knowledge transfer and exchange.
In March 2007, five provincial health research technology and methodology platforms were funded. Read about the five Platforms in the Who We Fund section.
We are working closely with the BC Government to ensure continued support, and we expect this to lead to new opportunities to engage the province’s research community in the future.
The MSFHR Board, at its meeting in the spring of 2011, endorsed continuing existing Technology/Methodology Platform awards by providing funds to March 2012 at the full award amount of $500,000. This was an increase from the previous year's amount that was reduced to $350,000 due to funding constraints.
After a review of the Networking Program in 2006, MSFHR developed program guidelines to address specific operational issues and to ensure that the goals of the Networking Program are met. These guidelines are subject to amendments from time to time. MSFHR expects awardees to adhere to these guidelines.
The Technology/Methodology Platforms program began in 2007.
