Research Unit Program

The purpose of the Research Unit Award is to provide funding to enable established BC-based research teams with a track record of success to:

  • advance their research agenda
  • increase team productivity
  • lead and foster strategic alliance and collaborative research activities among academics, health practitioners and decision makers
  • address Ministry of Health Services priorities to improve health systems and health services in BC
  • demonstrate return on investment
  • enhance research training
  • fill critical research talent gaps
  • foster knowledge dissemination and knowledge transfer

The award was not used to fund capital expenditures, including buildings, equipment, and furnishings, or research operating costs.

The Research Units experienced success in developing partnerships both among researchers, and between researchers and other stakeholders, on local, provincial and national levels. The Research Units have enhanced the research training environment for trainees, and fostered knowledge dissemination and knowledge transfer activities throughout the research community. These accomplishments have helped build a strong foundation for the future of health research in this province.

Each of the Research Units has made unique contributions to the BC research community  that have or will provide a legacy for health researchers in the future.
