MSFHR sponsors UBC Medical Journal Research Forum

MSFHR is proud to sponsor a unique forum showcasing UBC medical student research projects. The forum, which takes place March 30th at the UBC Life Sciences Centre, is hosted by the UBC Medical Journal in partnership with the Medical Undergraduate Society and the MD/PhD program. The UBC Medical Journal was developed to promote a stronger student research community, and this year’s research forum – the sixth annual -- coincides with the much anticipated release of the journal’s second issue.

“This type of event is a fantastic opportunity for medical students to share their research,” says Dr. John Challis, MSFHR President & CEO. “MSFHR has a history of supporting the development of researchers in the province and we felt this event was a great opportunity to provide additional support to the new generation.”

Dr. Challis will be presenting a poster award at the event. Other speakers include UBC Department of Medicine Dean Gavin Stuart and Dr. Evan Wood, an MSFHR 2003 Post Doctoral Fellow, Co-Director of the Urban Health Research Initiative and Clinical Associate Professor, Division of AIDS, Faculty of Medicine, UBC.

More than 100 students participated last year, highlighting the popularity and recognition of this event, and participation is expected to grow. For more information about attending this event, please visit http://www.celebrateresearch.ubc.ca/2010/02/6th-annual-mus-ubcmj-research-forum/
