Four BC researchers are the newest recipients of an MSFHR Health Services and Policy Research Support Network (HSPRSN) Partnership Award. The awards support BC researchers in applying to peer-reviewed, national or international competitions that address BC health services and policy research priorities and require matching funding. In this case, all four recipients’ were successful applicants to the CIHR Partnerships for Health System Improvement competition.
The four awardees and their projects are:
Exit Strategies: The Timing and Impacts of Physician Retirements
This research will explore the retirement decisions of physicians, including patterns of retirement in BC, the impact on patients, and the impact on the economy.
Leadership and Health System Redesign
This initiative will develop leadership capacity in the Canadian health care system by identifying and addressing gaps in applied research and practical knowledge within and between the researcher and decision-maker communities.
An Integrated Regional Trauma Care Data System Linking Clinical Care and Process Outcome Evaluation
This project will devise a comprehensive strategy for continuous improvement of trauma care systems that address gaps in the availability of information on processes and outcomes of trauma care in B.C.
Utilization of an Interactive Internet-based Platform for Managing Chronic Diseases at a Distance
This project will develop an Internet-based chronic disease management program to support patients with chronic diseases living in rural areas.
In 2009, seven applicants were funded through the HSPRSN Partnership Program; read their research profiles in the Who We Fund section of the website.
The HSPRSN Partnership Program provides matching funds of up to a maximum of $100,000 per successful application over the duration of the award term. An announcement regarding the 2010/11 program is pending.
