BC SUPPORT Unit, Advancing patient-oriented research

The BC SUPPORT Unit (Support for People and Patient-Oriented Research and Trials Unit) is a multi-partner organization transitioning from start-up phase to regular operations, preparing to support, streamline and increase patient-oriented research throughout BC.

Developed under Canada's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) led by CIHR, the Unit will provide services for researchers, patients, health care providers, and health system decision-makers. In March 2016, the Unit became part of the newly-established BC Academic Health Science Network, with the network’s interim board providing governance and oversight. MSFHR is providing services to enable the unit’s start-up phase.
