About our Partnerships

The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research is committed to partnering with like-minded organizations in BC, Canada and internationally, utilizing our combined resources to achieve common goals. We strive to offer unique opportunities to our partners, through an extensive network of health research, health system, government and non-government organization stakeholders.

MSFHR works closely with our partners and stakeholders towards our vision: world class research improving the well-being of British Columbians, their health system and their economy. Our programs:

• Fund hundreds of individual health researchers, from trainees to those with established careers, working in all areas of health research.
• Fund teams of researchers whose collective provincial efforts have revitalized BC’s health research enterprise.
• Lead numerous special projects and initiatives aimed at resolving health and health system issues.

We seek inspired partners who share our vision and wish to join us in working towards it by partnering on their specific areas of interest.

Trainee Partnerships

MSFHR's Trainee Partnership Program provides an opportunity for not-for-profit organizations, foundations, and other interested groups to jointly fund BC health research trainee awards in their respective areas of interest. These partnerships expand the opportunities for more BC trainees to be supported in preparing for careers as independent health researchers.

The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research currently partners with several non-profit’s and Foundations to co-fund Research Trainee Awards in the partners respective area of interest. Each partnership has an independent agreement and awards may be available at the following level:

• Junior Graduate Studentship (JGS)
• Senior Graduate Studentship (SGS)
• Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF)
