The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research was established by the Government of British Columbia in 2001 to provide strategic leadership and funding programs to attract, retain and improve the productivity of health researchers. The Foundation has a provincial mandate to build research capacity in support of better health and economic gains.
We're a team of approximately 40 employees, working with a large group of volunteers drawn from all sectors of BC's large and diverse health research community. As we add new members to our team, we're looking for people who share our underlying beliefs and values:
- Health research is important and makes a difference
- We focus on quality — our operational excellence creates a "competitive advantage" for BC
- Foundation staff are valued and respected — by each other and by our customers
- A high performance team approach is essential to our success
In applicants we consider as potential employees of the Foundation, we're looking for evidence of:
- Accountability
- Adaptability
- Continuous learning, innovation and improvement
- Customer focus
- Effective communication skills
- Planning, organizing and getting results
- Relationship building
- Teamwork and cooperation
