Genome BC is a not-for-profit organization supporting world-class genomics research and innovation to grow globally competitive life sciences sectors and deliver sustainable benefits for British Columbia, Canada and beyond. The organization’s initiatives are improving the lives of British Columbians by investing in genomics innovation to address critical challenges in key economic sectors such as health, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, agrifood, energy, mining and environment In addition to scientific programming, Genome BC integrates genomics into society by supporting responsible research and innovation and fosters an understanding and appreciation of the life sciences among educators, students and the public.

Genome BC is interested in funding research and activities that facilitate the responsible adoption of ‘omics (eg. genomics, epigenomics, nutrigenomics, pharmacogenomics) in health care by bridging the gap from research to the clinic. This includes activities that build capacity in the health care workforce, reduce barriers to uptake, and incorporate the voices of patients, families and underrepresented groups. Our areas of interest include: 1) Genomics Education for Health Professionals – to develop and socialize education resources for health professionals to increase genomic health care delivery, 2) Genomics and Society – to provide solutions to identified social and structural barriers of implementation of genomics in healthcare.
