Wei Zhang

Dr. Wei Zhang is an assistant professor in the School of Population and Public Health (SPPH) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Program Head-Health Economics at the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences (CHÉOS). She earned a PhD in SPPH at UBC and received postdoctoral training at CHÉOS. She received an MSFHR postdoctoral Research Trainee award in 2013 and an MSFHR Scholar award (co-funded with CHÉOS) in 2019.

Her research areas include measurement and valuation of work productivity loss due to illness, economic evaluation of health care interventions, and generic drug pricing policies. She is currently the principal investigator of two Canadian Institutes of Health Research funded project grants: a project providing better measures of work productivity loss due to illness in Canada based on national survey data and a project examining the impact of pricing policies for generic drugs in Canada. She is also the principal investigator of a BC Support Unit-funded project to improve methods of measuring work productivity loss in patients and caregivers, and a co-investigator of four funded grants to conduct economic evaluations of the respective interventions.
