Francesco Gentile

Dr. Francesco Gentile obtained his BSc and MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy), and a PhD in Physics under the supervision of Prof. Jack Tuszynski and Dr. Khaled Barakat at the University of Alberta. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Artem Cherkasov at the Vancouver Prostate Centre.

Dr. Gentile’s research interests are in the field of computer-aided drug discovery (CADD). In the past, he has contributed to the discovery of novel classes of DNA repair inhibitors for combination cancer therapy, as well as to the development of computational packages for CADD applications. At the Vancouver Prostate Centre he is combining his expertise in computational biophysics with machine learning to develop cutting-edge tools for accelerated virtual screening of ultra-large chemical databases. Dr. Gentile is also using computational techniques to identify and optimize drug candidates for resistant breast and prostate cancers.
