Haley Vecchiarelli

Dr. Haley Vecchiarelli obtained her PhD from the University of Calgary in 2020. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Marie-Ève Tremblay’s lab at the University of Victoria in the Division of Medical Sciences. Her research interest is broadly how the immune system affects the brain to influence behaviour. Her current work looks at how chronic stress influences microglia to produce cognitive deficits. She will investigate this using in-vivo 2-photon imaging, electron microscopy and behavioural analysis. Haley also holds a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship, and during her PhD held a Vanier Canada Graduate Studentship, Killam Predoctoral Studentship, Alberta Innovates Graduate Award and BranchOut Neurological Foundation PhD Award, as well as numerous travel and community awards. She is a member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and previously served as the Trainee Representative on the Board of Directors for this society. Additionally, she was 2019 co-Chair for Gordon Research Seminar on Cannabinoid Function in the Central Nervous System. Her career goal is to become an academic research scientist.
