James Crispo

Dr. James A.G. Crispo is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He holds an Honours BSc Biochemistry and MSc Chemical Sciences from Laurentian University, and completed a PhD in Population Health at the University of Ottawa.

Prior to his PhD, James worked at Health Canada in the areas of chemical emergency preparedness and environmental health risk assessment. James is experienced in working with large databases and is a certified SAS programmer. He is also trained in the completion of systematic reviews and led the first Cochrane review on adverse drug reactions in Parkinson’s disease.

James is the recipient of many distinguished awards, including an Ontario Graduate Scholarship, a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Doctoral Research Award, and a prestigious Fulbright Canada Student Award to the United States (University of Pennsylvania).

His current research focuses on characterizing health disparities and examining health outcomes among children with spinal cord injury in Canada. His secondary research interests are in the areas of care for substance use disorders and pharmacoepidemiology.
