Kate Jongbloed

Kate is a white occupier living on the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. She is an epidemiologist and mixed methods health researcher with more than 12 years of experience monitoring and responding to settler colonialism’s impact on health.

Kate is currently completing a post doctoral fellowship with the BC Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO), funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Health Research BC Health Systems Impact Fellowship proram. Together, they are engaged in a research project focused on naming Indigenous-specific racism, asking how it’s operating within the BC OPHO and strategizing to act to uphold foundational obligations to Indigenous Peoples.
