Maya Gislason

Dr. Maya K. Gislason is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University. As an eco-social health equity scholar, Dr. Gislason works to improve health equity at the interface between social and ecological systems, with a particular focus on how public health is impacted by intensive resource extraction and climate change. The overarching goal of Dr. Gislason’s work is to strengthen Planetary Health and advance intergenerational climate justice which is achieved through active research programs that range from developing equity informed policy responses to the impacts of climate change on marginalized populations through to community based collaborations designed to enhance children and youth’s mental health and wellbeing through supporting their active engagement in community based climate adaptation and mitigation processes.
