Victoria Bungay

Dr. Victoria (Vicky) Bungay is an Associate Professor and Director of the Capacity Research Unit with the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Nursing. She holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Gender, Equity and Community Engagement and a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Early Scholar Award. Vicky’s work focuses on addressing inequities that negatively affect people’s health and wellbeing including the devastating effects of stigma, discrimination and violence. She considers how research partnerships can foreground community priorities to positively impact communities and foster meaningful inclusion of people who are regularly excluded in designing effective health and human service programming to address their needs.

Her most current research and partnerships are tackling such issues as equity oriented health care and trauma and violence informed approaches to working with women experiencing systemic and interpersonal violence.  She engages in intersectoral partnerships at both the provincial and national levels, and partners with researchers from diverse disciplines and a wide range of community organizations.
