Applications open for the 2018 Health System Impact Fellowship
7 December 2017
MSFHR is pleased to be partnering with CIHR’s Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR) on its 2018 Health System Impact Fellowship Program to support the development of BC’s health policy research talent. The application deadline is April 5, 2018.
The Health System Impact Fellowship Program provides PhD trainees and post-doctoral fellows studying health services and policy or related fields with a paid experiential learning opportunity within health system organizations outside of the traditional scholarly setting.
Health System Impact Fellows will have the opportunity to embed themselves within a health system organization and contribute their research and analytic talents to pressing challenges faced by their host, while also benefiting from professional development opportunities, participation in a national cohort, mentorship with health system and academic leaders, and protected time for academic research.
For BC applicants, MSFHR, CIHR and the host partner organization will co-fund the award. Currently, six BC health authorities and the provincial Ministry of Health are participating as host partner organizations:
- BC Centre for Disease Control (Provincial Health Services Authority)
- First Nations Health Authority
- Fraser Health Authority
- Interior Health Authority (Research Department)
- Ministry of Health (Partnerships and Innovation Division)
- Vancouver Coastal Health
- Vancouver Island Health Authority
This partnership is a great opportunity to increase the number of funded researchers working with BC health authorities and the provincial government, and build capacity for the integration of policy research into decision-making.
If you are a BC health system organization interested in hosting a Health System Impact Fellow, please contact Muneerah Kassam to discuss this opportunity.
