2018 I2C competition: Guidelines now available
14 December 2017
The Innovation to Commercialization (I2C) Program was launched in 2017 to help BC health researchers advance their products or technologies towards practical application. Now in its second iteration, the 2018 guidelines are available to review, with applications due to open in early January.
The I2C Program provides funding to support feasibility research and commercialization activities to help BC researchers improve the viability of their intellectual property and advance their discoveries or inventions towards products that will ultimately improve health outcomes, benefit society, and enrich the health innovation ecosystem in BC.
Each award provides up to four years of funding which can be used to support activities directly related to implementation of a commercialization plan, and/or cover a portion of the award recipients’ salaries to protect their time for relevant research activities.
As part of MSFHR’s commitment to continuous learning and improvement, we review all our programs and competition processes to ensure they are meeting the needs of the BC health and health research community. Now in its second year, we have incorporated learnings from the inaugural I2C competition, such as providing additional commercialization plan guidance for applicants. We also continue to work with university partners and other research ecosystem stakeholders to build regional capacity and strengthen gender diversity among applicants.
The 2018 I2C competition is due to open for applications in early January with letters of intent due by February 16, 2018. Please see the 2018 I2C competition page for guidelines, evaluation criteria and award requirements.
To allow us to increase the total number of applicants funded MSFHR is actively seeking private sector, health charity and other funding partners for this and other 2018 programs. If your organization is interested in supporting a health researcher or innovator in your field, please contact partnerships manager Muneerah Kassam to discuss this opportunity. A list of partners currently seeking opportunities to co-fund research through MSFHR's 2018 competitions is available on our partnership pages.
