Karimah Es Sabar, a member of the MSFHR board of directors, has been appointed President and CEO of the Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD).

In her new role, Es Sabar will oversee the research arm of CDRD, a national not-for-profit centre that provides expertise and infrastructure to enable researchers to advance promising early-stage drug candidates. Es Sabar previously served as Senior Vice-President, Business and Strategic Affairs at CDRD.

Among her awards and recognitions, Es Sabar has received Canada’s Gold Award for Business Excellence, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award, and has been named to Vancouver Magazine’s “Power 50” and the Vancouver Sun’s “BC’s Top 100 Women of Influence.”

MSFHR funding helped support the establishment of CDRD through a 2007 Technology Methodology Platform Award. In 2011, MSFHR partnered with Merck to offer a post-doctoral fellowship in drug development at CDRD.
