CIHR launches health services and policy research survey

17 September 2013

A new online survey is seeking input from health researchers to help shape a pan-Canadian vision for health services and policy research.

The survey, launched this week by the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR), was developed in partnership with the provincial health research funding organizations and many of Canada’s health charities. The organizations share a belief that the challenges facing the health care system are best addressed through a common vision and collaborative approach.

The national vision and strategy will be informed by a comprehensive analysis of Canada’s existing assets and resources in health services and policy research, as well as key informant interviews with more than 50 leaders from across the country.

IHSPR is working with Dr. Terrence Sullivan and regional leads on these components of the project. The results of this process, combined with feedback collected through the community survey, will inform a Priorities Forum in 2014 that will involve partners and stakeholders in the development of a national vision and strategy for health services and policy research.

The online survey will be open until October 15, 2013. More information about the survey is available in an open letter to members of the health services and policy research community. The letter is co-signed by MSFHR president and CEO Dr. Diane Finegood in her capacity as co-chair of the National Alliance of Provincial Health Research Organizations.
