MSFHR receives new funding from provincial government

5 April 2013

MSFHR is thrilled to announce that the provincial government has confirmed $20 million in new funding to the Foundation. Health Minister Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid made the announcement on April 4 at the annual LifeSciences BC awards dinner.

“This funding is a vote of confidence for the Foundation and for the health research community as a whole,” said Dr. Diane Finegood, MSFHR president and CEO. “In addition to supporting existing programs and awards, this investment will allow MSFHR to plan for the future with more certainty.”

With the support of the provincial government, MSFHR has invested in building BC’s capacity for world-class research by funding the best scientists; coordinating the sharing of health research resources across the province; and bringing people together for health research planning and action.  This investment has increased the competitiveness of BC researchers and positioned BC to succeed in the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century.
