MSFHR vice-president wins CFO of the Year award

14 May 2014

Gordon Schwark, MSFHR vice-president, finance and corporate services, has been named non-profit CFO of the Year by Business in Vancouver.

Schwark, who has overseen MSFHR’s financial management since its inception in 2001, is one of six CFOs honoured by the publication’s annual awards for excellence in corporate growth, strategic decision-making, and leadership.

“Gordon’s steady financial hand is the main reason the Foundation has survived the boom-bust cycle of the past decade,” said MSFHR president and CEO Dr. Diane Finegood.

Under Schwark’s leadership, the Foundation has built a reputation for trusted financial reporting, good financial governance and stewardship of public funds. His responsibilities include the direction and administration of accounting and financial functions that support MSFHR’s programs and strategic objectives.

Schwark also acts as MSFHR’s chief privacy officer and is chair of the audit committee of the Society of Research Administrators International.

A full profile of Schwark and the other CFO award recipients is available in the May 13 edition of Business in Vancouver. The winners will be celebrated at BIV’s BC CFO Awards, to be held May 20 at the Pan Pacific Hotel.
