Partnership award funds project to improve patient flow

23 June 2015

An inter-regional research project focused on improving patient flow has been selected to receive funding through CIHR’s Partnerships for Health System Improvement (PHSI) program and the Health Services & Policy Research Support Network (HSPRSN) Partnership Program.

The successful project involves partners from 10 urban health regions in Western Canada, including Vancouver Coastal Health, represented on the project by co-investigator Janet Joy. The study will use a mixed-methods comparative approach to determine how health regions can achieve maximal improvement in patient flow, defined as “ensuring that patients receive the care they need, when and where they need it.”

Full details of the funded research project are available here.

For the 2015 PHSI competition, MSFHR is pleased to once again partner with CIHR to support research that is relevant to BC health system priorities. This competition is now open, and full application instructions and guidelines are available here. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, September 10.
