Scholar and health professional programs to launch this fall

24 August 2016

MSFHR is preparing to open the 2017 Scholar Program alongside the inaugural offering of our new health professional program*.

Guidelines for the Scholar Program will be available on MSFHR’s website in early September, with applications set to open in early October. A visual aid will also be provided in early September to assist potential applicants in deciding whether to apply to the Scholar Program or the health professional program. The health professional program is scheduled to open for applications in early November.

The 2017 Scholar Program marks the return to an annual cycle for MSFHR’s long-standing salary award for early-career investigators. Since 2001, the Foundation has granted 385 scholar awards worth more than $129 million. These awards, which are up to five years in duration, provide 75 percent protected time for research activities.

The health professional program will support health professionals to advance careers in the conduct and application of research in addition to their work in the health system. These awards, which have been developed in consultation with researchers and health professionals across BC, will help address expertise and knowledge gaps in health research and its implementation.
