Seniors forum to help improve home care support for the elderly

17 January 2014

On Jan. 15, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, hosted an international forum in Vancouver that brought together government, health authority leaders, researchers, and international experts to discuss best practices in home care for seniors.

With a growing seniors population in BC, the Ministry of Health has committed to examining best practices in seniors’ home care as part of the Seniors Action Plan. The Foundation was well positioned to support this work by bringing together these key experts so that all involved could share ideas, and understand best practices on how to improve home care support for seniors and their caregivers.

A summary of the findings from the forum will be made available to the public in the coming months.

For more information, see the Ministry of Health’s news release.
