The Providence Health Care Research Institute (PHCRI) is the research enterprise of Providence Health Care (PHC).

In affiliation with the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, PHCRI includes three renowned research centres: BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE), Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences (CHEOS), and Centre for Heart Lung Innovation (HLI).

PHCRI finds solutions to challenges that arise from PHC’s care settings through high quality research, including laboratory, clinical and epidemiological research. PHCRI’s areas of focus align with the needs of PHC’s patient population, including patients with HIV/AIDS, heart and lung disease, the aging population, renal disease, mental health, and urban health and addiction.

Along with the mentoring and training of new talent, PHCRI promotes interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaborations, knowledge transfer, and partnerships with patients and families and health leaders in our community.

PHCRI also partners with MSFHR to co-fund research via the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation and CHÉOS, the Centre For Health Evaluation And Outcome Sciences.
