The Health System Impact (HSI) Fellowship provides highly qualified candidates support at the doctoral and post-doctoral level to help develop BC’s health policy research talent and build capacity for the integration of policy research into decision-making.
The program was originally introduced in 2016 as MSFHR's Health Policy Fellowship Program and was one of MSFHR's suite of eight awards programs. This program was created to enhance understanding and communication between health researchers and health system decision-makers to promote the uptake of evidence-informed policy and reinforce the importance of policy-relevant research.
Partnering on CIHR’s Health System Impact Fellowship program
In 2018, MSFHR began piloting a partnership with CIHR’s Institute of Health Services and Policy Research on its Health System Impact Fellowship program. This partnership had enabled MSFHR to meet the goals of our Health System Impact Fellowship while supporting more BC fellows through partnership.
By partnering with CIHR on this fellowship program, MSFHR can support PhD trainees as well as post-doctoral fellows and leverage its funds to increase the number of successful applicants based at eligible BC host institutions and placed in relevant BC-based host partner policy organizations.
