Julie M Grondin

Dr. Julie M Grondin obtained her BSc and PhD in biochemistry from Queen’s University, where she studied the molecular determinants of complex carbohydrate recognition by multi-modular carbohydrate-active enzymes from gut bacteria. From 2014 to 2017, she was an NSERC Visiting Fellow at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where she engineered metabolic selection into a commensal gut bacterium with the purpose of applying these technologies toward antimicrobial therapeutic delivery in the gut.

With the support of the MSFHR Research Trainee award, she is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia, where she studies complex carbohydrate intake by members of the human gut microbiota. In 2019, Grondin will serve as Chair of the Gordon Research Seminar on Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes for Glycan Conversions.
