As Manager, Research Programs (Design & Development), Leslie is responsible for the design and development of funding program models, assisting in the evaluation of new program opportunities, and being a resource to MSFHR on trends in health research funding and the health research landscape of BC.
Prior to MSFHR, he was at PrioNet Canada, a nation-wide Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE)-funded research network for prion and neurodegenerative disease awareness and research. While there, Leslie oversaw and coordinated their strategic programs and platform facilities and served as the primary liaison between PrioNet’s administrative centre, its scientific members, and government and corporate stakeholders.
Leslie has over 10 years of experience in life sciences/biomedical research and management, in both academic and corporate environments. He has a PhD in biochemistry and a Master in Science in molecular biology and genetics from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Science in cell and developmental biology from UBC.
Leslie is a previous recipient of an MSFHR Post-doctoral Fellowship Award.
