Stress levels, youth mental health and stigma toward non-white British Columbians are just some of the topics covered by a COVID-19 rapid response research project funded by MSFHR.

The BC COVID-19 Strategic Research Advisory Committee (SRAC) has just published the first iteration of the BC COVID-19 Strategic Research Framework to support a coordinated BC health research approach to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the beginning of March, MSFHR helped facilitate several meetings between the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR) and the BC research community to help build connections, facilitate knowledge translation and to inform CIHR-IHSPR’s strategic planning process.

In this issue of Forward Thinking, MSFHR CEO Dr. Bev Holmes writes about the need for funders to adapt to the current reality brought on by COVID-19, and welcomes MSFHR'S new Vice President Research Dr. Chonnettia Jones, a leader with the expertise and background to help us navigate this new reality.

Fuse International Conference

MSFHR supports two BC-based trainees to attend the 5th Fuse International Conference in the UK.

The MSFHR COVID-19 Research Response Fund, with $2 million in funding support from the BC government, will focus on high-quality research that evaluates BC’s response to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and informs ongoing response, especially strategies for avoiding or mitigating subsequent waves of transmission.
