The BC SUPPORT Unit (SUpport for People and Patient-Oriented Research and Trials Unit) is a multi-partner organization created to support, streamline and increase patient-oriented research throughout BC.

Developed under Canada's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) led by CIHR, the Unit provides services for researchers, patients, health care providers, and health system decision-makers. In March 2016, the Unit became part of the newly-established BC Academic Health Science Network.

MSFHR is a major financial contributor to the BC SUPPORT Unit, as well as a key collaborative partner on activities such as knowledge translation and capacity building. MSFHR has been a collaborative partner with the BC SUPPORT Unit from the beginning, providing business plan development and administrative support, and hosting the Unit during its planning and startup phase. After CIHR, MSFHR is the Unit’s largest financial contributor, investing $10 million over five years.
