As Director, Research Competitions, Valerie is responsible for ensuring high credibility and visibility for the Foundation’s funding programs and competitions and to advance leading practices in this area. She provides leadership and oversight to the research competitions unit ensuring all functions operate efficiently and effectively and that funding competitions are developed, launched, reviewed and administered to the highest standard.
Prior to MSFHR, Valerie worked in a wide range of industries such as technology, magazine publishing, HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning), retail and apprenticeship training programs.
Valerie is a business professional with solid knowledge and skills of software support, finance, marketing and administration. She has a business administration certificate from Capilano University, an advanced project management certificate from Langara College, and has completed business coursework at SFU.
